I design and build things. That is what I do. Because I love it! If I had a zillion dollars, I would do the same thing.

As an 80s skate kid in California, I always dreamed of something to simulate and practice surfing finally.

Surfboards are 3-dimensional - not flat/planar. They do not wheelbite. They also do not pivot at the nose.

I started with a litany of jank industrial caster parts, hand-bent springs — total garbage. Couldn’t make it 2 car-lengths without being gassed. I was also on inline skate wheels which immediately cheese-grated themselves. Eventually I taught myself 3D Modeling, then 3D Printing, then broke a bunch more stuff.

I worked quietly, in secret. No photos. Only showed a couple of Venezuelans. Somebody was going figure this out — might as well be me. Years went by. I still didn’t have something even decent enough to show people. I was getting into my 40’s and still throwing myself down hills with no brakes like an idiot.

Needless to say time was of the essence. Finally I just said F it and went on Kickstarter. You only need an idea for a business and I was way past that — I had a piece of crap!

We got funded. Even with that hot mess. The best part was: I found the Wizard — or rather, he found me.

Bob is the reason this thing is so beautiful and bulletproof today.
